Tashkent is the capital of modern Uzbekistan. The first mention of Tashkent appeared in ancient Eastern chronicles in the 2nd century BC. Today, Tashkent is a metropolis with a population of over 3 million.
After the devastating earthquake of 1966, the city was rebuilt and became one of the most beautiful administrative, cultural, and industrial centers of Central Asia.
Tashkent's architecture boasts a distinctive national character: ultra-modern buildings harmoniously blend with medieval monuments, and the city is rich in parks and fountains.
Our guide will take you on a fascinating express tour of Tashkent's most interesting sites.

Sights to visit:
- Old City: the Khast-Imam (Khazret-Imam) architectural and religious complex, with its grand Friday mosque, the medieval Kafal Shashi mausoleum (16th century), the Barak Khan Madrasah (16th century), and the Mu'i Muborak Madrasah, with one of the original Qurans of Caliph Osman (7th century), one of the oldest in the world;
- The functioning Kukeldash Madrasah (16th-17th centuries, viewed from the outside)
- The colorful oriental Chorsu Bazaar
- Navruz Park
- Amir Temur (Tamerlane) Square with a park and equestrian statue of Tamerlane, surrounded by historical and administrative buildings – the Palace of Forums, the Temurids Museum, the Tashkent chimes, and the original building of the Uzbekistan Hotel
- The Courage Monument – a memorial to the devastating disaster of the 1966 Tashkent earthquake
- The Opera and Ballet Theater (1945) and a musical fountain
- Mustaqillik (Independence) Square with the Independence Monument, the Ezgulik Arch, an eternal flame, and fountains
- Palace of Grand Duke N.K. Romanov (1891)
